The Falling of Love The Falling Series Book 1 edition by Marisa Oldham Angie Martin Contemporary Romance eBooks

This is such an amazing and highly emotional love story. What Marisa Oldham has done with this is phenomenal. When I read her book I can't tell you how many times I found myself smiling at the pages, clutching my reader tight as the hardships became harder, and how my chest constricted when things just seemed impossible. It was just so real and beautifully written.

We begin this story with Grace Hathaway in high school. She is shy, quiet and enjoys working on her art. Her sister Michelle is the loud flamboyant one. They lost their parents 7 years before and are being raised by their older brother James, who is a truck driver to support them. The day Grace sees Ian her world stood still. He wasn't like any boy she has ever seen. He dressed different, he looked different with his long red hair and jewelry, and he acted different. He had her attention from the first moment. Her heart wasn't far behind.

Ian Taylor dreaded starting a new school. All he wanted was getting to LA and starting up his band with his best bud Jaden. When he walked into math class and seen Grace he couldn't believe his eyes. When she talked to him he was shocked that she would. When she went out with him she made his world light up. Ian's family isn't the loving kind like Grace's and when his family problems become worse they open their house and arms to him, but things just aren't that simple.

Their love affair starts off as a sweet teen love and morphs into long lasting love of adults. The ease of teenage romance wears off and things become real for them. Then the hardships kick in and puts a true test to the strength of their love. Will it survive and will it last?

This book was emotionally wrenching and really pulls at you. You get angry, you get furious and you definitely feel sad, but you also feel and see the love between Marisa's characters and you see the confusion her characters are experiencing because of the various hurdles. This is a book you don't want to miss!! The ending is in a word ... POWERFUL!!! I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it and will definitely be in my to be read again list!

****I was given a copy of this book from the publisher in return for my honest opinion. I would recommend this to anyone who loves love stories and It is well worth the 5 stars I gave it****

The Falling of Love The Falling Series Book 1 edition by Marisa Oldham Angie Martin Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

Marisa Oldham is a new author to me and I absolutely fell in love with this book. I cannot wait to continue this series. But with that ending how could I stop with the first book?

I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters in this book. Grace, Ian, Michelle, Jaden, and James. Each of them were complex in their own ways and faced internal struggles as we all do. This book was emotional for me as I experienced their happiness, sadness, heartbreak, loss, love and most of all…watching someone go through addiction.

My favorite quote from the book is “You gave me your heart, and that is the best gift anyone has given me.” ---Grace
I'm not sure how to review this book. I'm not a huge fan of YA romance and while this book was in the note mature side of YA, I still found my self cringing at how immature they acted at times. I like the plot and the flow of the story wasn't bad, but I also found my self a little confused at the writing and the fact that I didn't feel that I was experiencing the books.

I really wanted to like Grace as a character but in the end she really confused me. Her being able to fall in love so easily after "heartbreak" was a little too much for me as a reader to comprehend. Yes she was young and I remember falling in love easily when I was young, but the difference was I have my self more time, she seemed to always need someone as opposed to learning to love her self.

The things I really liked were the darker feel that the story had at time. I am an avid reader of dark romance so that aspect helped me push through the things that weren't my favorite. I really liked the issues at hand. It gave the story a real feel when it comes to the ages and setting. I also enjoyed all the secondary characters. They right something to the story that was much needed.

Overall, while the characters were harder for me to connect with I found that the plot and the overall outcome of the story was beautiful. The underlining meaning was one that happens in real life and I enjoyed seeing how grace navigate led life and love. The ending was as I would predict it to be and I am interested to see how, now that the characters are older, the story will continue. 3.5 stars #2OCCJD
You know, for most people, their first love is always a heartbreaking one. It's that first experience with heartbreak in general since many don't marry them. And it does hurt. So much. Grace's case was exceptionally painful in this book. She falls for the new guy who ends up having a messed up home life and who no one really seems interested in until Ian gets with her. They become very close and end up breaking the house rules, which gets both of them thrown out. The two of them move to L.A. but honestly, their troubles are nothing compared to when they move in with Jaden. He seems like a pretty decent guy, but Ian takes a serious downturn. Honestly, I feel sorry for Ian because he just cannot seem to crawl out of the deep dark hole he dug himself. Grace tries to help but there's only so much she can do or take. As for Jaden, seems like he has to play second fiddle quite often. But I really liked Jaden's character and I hope to see more of him in the following books. So much heartache in one book though. There were times it seemed like it didn't flow as well as it should, but otherwise it was a very heartfelt read.
