First 100 Days The A Pastor Guide edition by T Scott Daniels Religion Spirituality eBooks
Helping pastors provide responsible and successful leadership is unquestionably a purpose and passion of Dr. T. Scott Daniels as evinced in his two recent books. Further building upon his 2009 "Seven Deadly Spirits: The Message of Revelation's Letters for Today's Church" in which he sets forth the obstacles facing pastors and church leaders in developing sound churches, here he proffers practical wisdom in addressing those obstacles, borne out of extensive and intensive personal experience. At this time of seriously diminishing attendance, finances and other vital support in many or most churches and denominations, the counsel of mega-church pastor Dr. T. Scott Daniel's "The First 100 Days: A Pastor's Guide" perhaps has never been more timely. The book has a "conversational counsel of a wise and caring friend" feel to it. I was motivated at each point and page to reflect upon my own lengthy career, including roles of pastor, evangelistic speaker and health care chaplain. Pastors who preceded me and their families were greatly loved, as were we. The churches grew. We were richly blessed. But that was a different time. Society and culture have changed. Churches and denominations have changed. The role of pastor has changed, and become much more challenging than before.
The nine chapters of The First 100 Days set forth solid business and personal life management practices in a manner at the same time concise and comprehensive. These are practices that can help a church leader at any point in a ministerial career. I personally found the chapters entitled "Know What You Don't Know" and "Establish Clear Expectations" could have made stewardship of ecclesiastical responsibilities decidedly better for myself, my family and the congregations we served.
Provided are proven methods to quickly learn a church's history, and the importance and significance of that history to its members and to the pastor. Given are key queries of board members to help a recently-arrived pastor identify and grasp early-on the unique ethos, collective cultural history, and the communal essence that reveals the true heart of that specific church.
Crucial and salient points I underlined: Quantifiable expectations of the pastor and his family and of the church need to be clearly defined; Monday morning debriefings with key staff evaluating Sunday's services can prove extremely valuable; Thou shalt read thy daily newspaper; Transparency and inclusiveness in the processes that relate to the church's financial information is sound business management as well as good stewardship.
Oklahoma mega-church Pastor David A. Busic who penned the foreword opines that The First 100 Days "is a must-read" and "an invaluble resource". I could not agree more.

First 100 Days The A Pastor Guide edition by T Scott Daniels Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is an excellent book that will guide a pastor as he prepares to enter a new church setting. The tips that are given are common sense tips that can easily be applied whether getting ready to pastor a church of 20 or 2000.
Really like this book. As a new pastor going into my first church soon, it gave me quite a bit of insight.
This gave me some great ideas and tools to use as I move forward with God's calling on my life. It's incredibly helpful to have something tangible and measurable to help me know where to start.
Must read for any change in ministerial assignment. I found every one of the chapters to be very helpful in my own transition; for myself, my family, and the congregation.
Fantastic, practical, fast read. Highly recommended for pastoral transitions. I've already passed it on to another pastor in transition.
This is a MUST READ to any new lead pastors...or and pastors in a new ministry position...Great book!
Great resource, incredible source for those starting a new location. I would highly recommend this book to those going through a time of pastoral transition
