I loved this book. Dylan first kidnapped Johanna to protect her. After a couple of days having him alone with him on the ran he fell in love with her even more. What girl would not want a man there to protect her that is her lover as well. He needed her just as much as she needed his protection. In the end their heart won even after an unexpected event that could change everything for both of them.
Got this one for free. What at deal! That I loved the story as well made my day. I enjoyed how the author developed the relationship between hero - and boy was he a hero! - and heroine. There was action in the book but not enough to overshadow the fact that this was a romance.

I loved that Dylan and Johanna were from two different worlds. Not two people you would have assumed would go together. It was definitely a case of opposites attract. Dylan being the uber-sexy bad boy undercover law man and Johanna being the beautiful but uptight, brainy, professional overachiever. There were sparks though, lots and lots of sparks! And as a reader, I felt them all.

I loved the character development, story line, and pretty much everything else. The only thing I read that I didn't view as the author apparently did was Dylan's new vocational goals at the end of the book. I couldn't see him taking that career path. Other than that, a truly enjoyable read.
Hero takes heroine to protect her from her former boss who is intent on killing her. Hero is wounded but manages to drag her cross country, avoiding killers around every corner, and saves the day.

I haven't read Janzen, but liked this novel enough to look up more by the author.

Remember the "Lawyer Daggett" from "True Grit"? It was in that vein that the heroine kept referring to her law firm partner. That part was.... weird.

IMO Why can't these 'injured heroes on the lam' figure out that they can get penicillin from any animal feed or pet store? Just saying.
I was surprised to see that this book was written 19 years ago. At that time, if I remember correctly (and I'm a granny now!) romance plots were a not as intricate or as fast-paced as this one.

I liked the hero and could have slapped the heroine a few times, but she came good in the end. I don't want to give a spoiler and ruin the story for anyone, however I will say that the twist toward the end was a cliche. I was a little disconcerted when the heroine kept jumping into pay phones and then remembered that of course in 1993, people just didn't have mobile (cell) phones the way they do now!

I like Tara Jantzen's work and will read more in due course.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was so emotionally charged that at times I was left breathless. The action was really good as well. I loved Dylan and Johanna as a couple. I connected with Johanna specifically and really felt what she felt. Very engaging story. I had a few issues though that did lower my love for this book.

For one, I never truly grasped the reasoning behind the danger. Maybe I missed that part? But I never knew why her life was on the line in the first place. The other issues are not as big a deal but still notable. All the typos and the fact Dylan buys 3 boxes of condoms and they never use any. For supposedly smart people, that's pretty dumb... Anyway, I really liked the book and I happily add it to my "Keeper shelf". I recommend to fans of romantic suspense.
From the get go Avenging Angel opens with edge-of-your seat, pulse-pounding action. The suspense only intensifies as the plot unfolds. Tara Janzen is a power house when it comes to describing tense situations and close calls, like Dylan's hell on wheels ride on the highway as he hurtles to save his girl. I like strong, capable and protective heroes; and Dylan is that for Johanna. He's a hard man, toughened by his occupation yet he has a heart and a conscience. He breaks his cover just to save the girl.

Johanna is no wilting flower. She has spunk and fire and she's smart. I like the fact that though Dylan has the gun, she still makes her demand to be let go more than once. She's attracted to him despite not wanting to be, being that he's her captor. Initially she wasn't buying his story of saving her. She has inner strength and compassion as evidenced in the way she sewed Dylan up when he needed help. Yet while strong, she's very much tender in her emotions and romantic within. The tenderness that had been in her heart for him when they knew each other under different circumstances strengthens as they are forced together, being on the run from a common enemy. Strong she is, but no level of fortitude can withstand the love that seeps into her heart for a man who loves her so much that he's willing to lay his life down for her; and Dylan is definitely willing to do this for Johanna.

Avenging Angel is awesome.
The lead character, Johanna absolutely ruins this book. Dylan, an undercover FBI agent, wounded, racing across the country to save her. Out of time, he kidnaps her without explaining, to keep her alive. He pretty quickly, explains this to her. Regardless that she is doubtful of him being undercover, she does know that she is in extreme danger. Yet she spends almost 11 chapters, hating him for this & attempting to escape. Even knowing, the criminal who is chasing her. She is beyond annoying, she is ridiculous & is hard to read. Is the author trying to write conflict between them? It doesn't work. Absurd to go on this many chapters. Normally I would quit reading at this point. I write few reviews, but I knew I would on this book, because the book is SO bad. So out of fairness to the author, I continued reading to see if she redeems the book in anyway. The suspense is okay. She writes beautiful love scenes that read love, not sex. Why I gave 2 instead of 1*. But even the love scenes are just words written, not characters that come to life. They are wooden. I in no way, could recommend this book.
