Man oh man, this was so not what I was expecting. I came across this book while doing some research for my own writing. I read the synopsis and just had to read it. I must say I was not disappointed. There were times when I grew a little bored with the length, but after resting my eyes for a few the words would flow again.I love Jacey and Micah! They just work together. From the first time they met I knew their love would be an epic one. My heart almost broke when Jacey grew sick.
And Jeric, oh that Jeric is something hot. I love that she introduced us to a new kind of hero. He's sexy, he's skilled, he's tatted and he's deaf. That one trait brought so much life to his character. She allowed us to see that even with his impairment, he was still very strong and capable. Oh did I mention sexy?
The female characters didn't do much for me. I don't know I just couldn't get into there personalities. But when the began to realize their purpose on this earth, I saw a change that I love. The became these powerful leading ladies that knew exactly what to do to make it.
I don't know what I was expecting from this book but I am glad I read it. I will definitely be moving on to the next part of the series.

The Space Between The Book of Phoenix 1 eBook Kristie Cook Reviews
I was cruising the "free " books when I came across this book. I have found the "free " books to find new authors without investing a great deal of money with and quite often I end up disappointed. Not so with this author and this book.
I found this book to be surprisingly interesting, absorbing and gripping. It's part sci-fi, love story, thriller and an all around excellent read! I will definitely invest in the book that follows, especially since book one was excellent. I love these battles between good and evil - something we all wrestle with on a daily basis - making good choices or bad. What I really enjoyed was the fact that this was not over done - Kristie Cook did not make the hero and heroine of the book over blown - they are real people - well drawn - so well so, they come across as people we know and have known in our own lives.
If you choose to read the book - I do not believe you'll be disappointed - I was not. Excellent!!
I started out not sure how I felt about this book. Perhaps it was because I wasn't in the mood for a paranormal story. So I stepped away, read something else, then came back to it. Once I put my mind to where this story was going I really enjoyed it. I was at first put off with the whole parallel story line since it seemed that much was being "duplicated" but the more I read, the more I realized that there was something to learn from each parallel story-line and now I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This is the first book I have read by this author - I bought it because of the rave reviews and what seemed like interesting characters from the description. I did like the main characters of Leni and Jeric because they were unique - Jeric's character in particular was quite interesting, I wish we could have delved into his past more and gotten to know him better, given him a little more substance. I didn't care for the story switching back and forth to Jacey's journal - it seemed pretty repetitive to me, I felt like I was being forced to read the same story all over again, and I got bored. I also found myself getting the 2 story lines confused at times, and I was annoyed that the main characters didn't see how everything fit together sooner than they did. I know this is the first book in the series, and maybe the action will heat up in the next few books, but it seemed like this entire book was just the 2 main characters trying to deny over and over again what was obviously happening to them. Although the characters are interesting and the writing flows pretty well, the story just didn't resonate with me, and I'll most likely skip the rest of the books in the series.
This is my 1st time jumping book. I admit the 1st few chapters were hard to wrap my mind around. It seemed kinda crazy but I liked it. The characters are so strong and believable. The writing is well done as Kristi can do! I am looking forward to the next one. It's not my absolute favorite one of hers. But worth reading. I am interested to see what happens next. The writing is so deep.
The first books I read by Kristie Cook was her Soul Savers series that I absolutely loved. She has way of coming up with the most creative ideas and putting them onto pages to make magnificent story-telling. Although I did like this book, it still does not compare to her other work.
The story was very interesting and I was just as curious about the strange things happening to Jeric and Leni as they were. I had my suspicions though. I think they were very diverse characters since Jeric is deaf and has to sing to communicate and Leni surprisingly turned out to be African American, something I did not pick up on till the end of the book. Go figure.
The most amazing thing about this book was the telling of two stories in one. (the journal Leni found and read from). I found myself loving two sets of characters as they experienced similar anomalies. But I will say that I friggin loved Micah and Jacey.
Micah. Jacey. (swoons)
Anyways. The romance between Leni and Jeric were great too, it just took a lot of time for them to admit their feelings while trying to get answers for all the strange things happening to them that weren't quite coincidences. They slowly opened up to one another and trusting each other with their secrets. Although Leni irked me quite a bit. But this book is also their struggle to let go of their personal issues so they can become stronger together.
This was a nice read and kept me interested throughout the whole book. Even though I wanted to smack some sense into Jeric and Leni at the end, it was still a pretty good read.
